Italy

The 2006 FIFA World Cup Finals in Germany will be the sixteenth appearance at the championships for Italy who are three time winners of the event. The Azzuri qualified for the World Cup Finals by winning their European qualifying group by five points from lesser lights in Norway, Slovenia and Scotland.

Former Juventus coach Marcello Lippi is the man charged with leading the Italian charge to a fourth World Cup Finals success. Lippi is a five-time winner of the Serie A title and guided Juve to a Champions League trophy.

The 2006 FIFA World Cup Finals in Germany will again see the Italian team one of the major contenders to lift the Cup. After two disappointing performances at the last two World Cup Finals the team will no doubt be keen to make their presence felt in Germany.

Success or failure for the Azzuri will come down to Lippi sending his chargers out to score goals. Traditionally the Italian side has been more than capable in defence but has consistently failed to realize you must score to win. This could easily be the winning factor if you fancy online gambling, as odds are so good that a few well placed bets can land you more profits than the good old playtech casino bonuses that are notorious for their great returns.

The one alarming statistic for Italy is they have been eliminated from three of the last four World Cup Finals having not lost a game.

To highlight the point, the last major championships played, UEFA Euro 2004 Italy was eliminated after only managing a 0-0 draw against Denmark before a 1-1 draw against Sweden. They finally cracked it for a 2-1 win over Bulgaria but were eliminated from the competition having finished third in their group behind the two Scandinavian teams.
