A typical year in the life of the Club No two years are exactly the same as the timing of events, both locally and nationally, depends on land access, other events etc, but during a typical year these reflect the types of activities CLARO puts on as a club and the major national/ international events that a large number of CLARO orienteers go to. Of course during the year we all also go to many other events put on by neighbouring clubs both locally and nationally. January / February | CLARO Colour Coded event | March | CLARO Colour Coded event About every other year we try to promote a Badge event, usually at this time of the year. The Compass Sport Cup competition first round CLARO Annual Dinner – in a restaurant in Harrogate or the surrounding area. The timing of this varies and is sometimes later in the year | April | The Jan Kjellstrom International Festival of Orienteering. This lasts for four days over the Easter weekend and is a popular way of spending the holiday with club orienteers Thursday evening footpath runs commence. | May | The British Championships. A chance to try your skills against the best in the sport in your age group Compass Sport Cup Finals | June | CLARO Club championships and picnic. Scoring usually is a little ‘off beat’ to give everyone a chance to win. | July/August | CLARO Informal/ family events National 5 or 6 day event (e.g. in Scotland or the Lake District), which many CLARO orienteers attend. | September | The Harvester Relays – A national inter-club relay event. The timing of this event tends to vary somewhat and can be earlier in the year The Peter Palmer Junior Relays.
