If you have enjoyed your orienteering and would like to do more, then you should join your local club, Claro. There are two types of membership, depending on how much orienteering you are likely to do. Joining Claro as a
Local BOF member will enable you to: - Meet other people with similar interests and be part of a thriving club
- Participate in all the club's activities, which include 4 or more full colour-coded events a year, 5-6 local events, training, coaching and social activities.
- Compete in the events of neighbouring clubs in Yorkshire (except BOF National and Championship events)
- Receive the clubs newsletter, The Clarion, with lists of coming events, news of events, technical tips, articles about orienteering and other club news. The Clarion is published six times a year.
- Access the club loan store (including books and specialist night orienteering headlamps).
- Learn additional skills to help improve your enjoyment of the sport, both competitively and in other areas.
- Obtain free entry in Compass Sport Cup matches.
- Obtain free entry for Claro events (when helping).
- Share transport
- Purchase club kit
- Discount at Cotswold Outdoors in Harrogate*
- Vote in the club AGM*
- Compete in any open BOF competition
in the Yorkshire and Humberside Orienteering Area

Full BOF member will enable you to do all the above plus - Compete in any open BOF competition anywhere in the UK, including all National and Championship events (and team events such as the British Relays, Jan Kjellstrom Relays, Harvester Trophy etc.)
- Be eligible for the national Badge and Ranking schemes
- Compete in competitions abroad
- Obtain the BOF Bulletin 4 times a year
- Juniors, and families with juniors, receive Route Choice Five, 4 times a year
- Receive a discount on subscription to Compass Sport (the national magazine, published 6 times a year)
- Vote in the BOF AGMs
Membership Fees

Family membership is available for up to 2 adults plus their children up to and including 18 years of age. Over 18s need to join as individual members. Organisations who wish to affiliate, please contact the membership secretary. Schools that are members of the British Schools Orienteering Association and are within the Claro catchment area, are invited to become an affiliated organisation without further payment. To join, please fill in the
Membership Form and send it, together with your cheque, to membership secretary. Alternatively come along to any of the Claro events listed in the calendar and sign up! Back to top |
