The annual Club Picnic was duly held on Saturday 13th June. The venue for the picnic was the Hensman's well manicured garden and the competition (I use the term loosely) area was the Harlow Hill permanent course. The Start and Finish were at the rear gate of the Hensman’s garden which due to a bit of magic by the club's mapping officer managed to appear on the permanent course map. There were 3 courses called 'Beginners', 'Intermediate' and 'Advanced' which may or may not have been acronyms for short, medium and long. All I can say is that the advanced course was not easy. Much thanks to Geoff Hensman and Peter Pozman for planning and organising it all. Of course we try to pretend this is a serious activity to find the Claro Club Champion for the year, but in reality it’s just a great social event. This year the social side was particularly good; it didn't rain; there were no midges; there was a BBQ and there were home comforts such as tables, chairs, a loo and last but not least cups of tea. This was also the final race of the Claro Club Orienteering League and the prize giving took place during the picnic. The full list of prize winners will appear under the CCOL section in the near future. All I can remember is that Allen Barnes was the overall champion (again). The Results Beginners course
