Organiser’s Comments

Harlow Hill as you will no doubt have noticed is well used by members of the public and also on this occasion by a band Army Apprentices undertaking park improvement works just to confuse the planner. This did not however appear to cause any problems. It was nice to see such a good attendance on what started with a torrent of rain. It was also good to see numbers swelled by a large party from The Mount School in York. I was beginning to get a little worried when one of their party was overdue and thankfully we did not have to call in the Army Apprentices for Search and Rescue training.

The event seemed to go very smoothly but my job as organiser was made a lot easier with the willing band of assistants, so a big thank you to the Claro members and team leaders who helped at Harlow Hill. Safety at an event is always of concern so a special thank you to those who assisted at the road crossing which seems to get busier each year. Also thanks to the Bowes family for putting on an excellent stringcourse, which I confess to running round (non competitively) to inspect the ‘insects’ at close quarters.

Thanks to Linda for planning some interesting courses on which I received favourable comments and thanks to Pete for controlling the event.

A final thank you to Angie Clarke (no relation) and Harrogate Council for allowing us to use Harlow Hill. The only two problems prior to the event were resolved with the assistance of the Council. Firstly the car parking area was quickly tidied up and gravel heaps removed and secondly permission was granted to provide portable toilets at the last minute when it was pointed out to me that the toilet block we have previously used at this venue had been demolished!

I hope you all enjoyed the event and will support the next Claro event at Nutwith on 26th November.
